I just love men, don't you?

Seeing a well dressed man is rare but when I do I pretty much drool.

I saw 'The Vow' over the weekend and Channing Tatum wears sweaters through the whole movie. After seeing how he dressed I vowed to only buy sweaters for the next guy I date. Holy Hotness.

Since I am OBSESSED with Pinterest (do I keep mentioning that? Sorry! oops.) I have a board dedicated to Men's Style. I wanted to share a few favorite looks with you all.

No one does cool and casual like Ryan. I think the main reason why I love him so much is that his style is unbelievable. He looks good in anything whether it be a simple white tee and boots or rocking a leather jacket or an impeccably tailored suit.

How do I love shoes?

Let me count the pairs...

If you have been a follower of the blog for awhile you will know that I love shoes. I am always looking for new pairs and you can often find my latest lust worthy pair in my What I Want Wednesday or What I Wore posts. After my Shoemint review and a few pics of my closet on Twitter I had quite a few of you comment that you wanted to see more of my shoes. Well, my friends, I am going to show you! This will be a post every week or two. I would love to hear from you what you would like to know about the shoes or designer. All shoes are NOT made equally so ask away!

I am not a classic dresser. I often favor a slightly edgy, California casual look. BUT I do believe that you should own classic pieces in your wardrobe...shoes NOT excluded. My Valentino Bow Pumps are not only classic in shape and color but they are a classic piece in the Valentino collection. These shoes are the epitome of what Valentino stands for. Valentino believes that the only color after Black and White is red. His collections were feminine, flirty and girly. You will see bows and roses in a majority of his pieces. Knowing that about the famous designer and longstanding design house I knew that I had to own a classic. This is the first pair of Valentino shoes that I bought back in 2008. I chose to buy them in red to own a pop color and to have a really sexy pair of shoes. Red is such a sexy color and I feel sexy when I wear them.

Fit:
Valentino runs true to size for me in their pumps. This pair is a size 39 (US 8 1/2-9) and fits perfectly. Open toed heels always feel a little big because there is room for your toes to move around. Valentino makes shoes in many heel heights. These are slightly on the shorter side (especially for my shoe wardrobe). I have a few pairs of sandals and they run a half size big. All my sandals are 38 1/2.

Wear:
I have definitely babied these shoes. I have not worn them outside. I wear them inside and have worn them for hours. I add a padded insert to the back of the heel to prevent sliding. Due to the open toe and side cut out the can slip off easily. I wore these shoes to work a lot and to a few events. They look great with a simple dress and totally punch up your basic jeans and collared button up.

Comfortability:
These shoes are comfortable for about four hours. Any longer than that I would definitely add inserts like foot petals or Dr. Scholl's. The sole is on the thinner side and there is no platform. They hug your toes but don't pinch.

Happy Valentine's Day my lovelies!!

To be honest the day kind of snuck up on me. I just realized that I will be spending my first Valentine's Day alone in six years. I am a sappy romantic and I enjoy this Hallmark Holiday :) I decided to pamper myself. I have an intense work out planned, lunch with one of my besties and a massage booked. I think Valentine's Day will treat me just fine :)

(although having a hot date may have been just a smidge better)

I was excited to see that red was the choice for this month's "Bloggers DO it Better" post. While red isn't a color that I own a lot of (three plaid shirts, one sweater and two scarves is all I own. Kind of shocking and a little sad.) I knew that I could make something work. I tried on the few items I own and settled on one of my flannels. It actually has been chilly (in the high fifties) and I knew pairing the shirt with leggings and heeled boots would be perfect. I LOVE the color combination of red and turquoise so I had to dress up my flannel with a statement necklace and earrings. Since my shirt is over sized (from the men's department) I wanted to belt it. My braided skinny belt is going to get a lot more play these days. I love how the look came together.

Pop Culture and The Grammy's

I have so much useless pop culture knowledge in my head it is ridiculous. If they ever had a Jeopardy with JUST pop culture questions I would enter, AND win. I love knowing the little tidbits of knowledge and often times I embarrass myself speaking out the things I know. I have a crazy memory and am good with names and numbers. It comes in handy! Watching silly reality shows, reading the tabloids, perusing the web, Twitter, gossip blogs... all make me smarter. Haha. I love being able to watch the awards shows and know all the back stories, who has dated who, how tall some one is and 98% of the time I can guess what designer they are wearing before they say it. I think all of that information has helped my fashion background and cultivate my passion.

With that said I LOVED The Grammy's last night. It was a GREAT show (with the exception of Chris Brown performing TWICE and that train wreck, ridiculous Nicki Minaj performance) and I really enjoyed the variety of performers. Just seeing and hearing Adele warmed my heart. I think Bruno Mars is a fantastic singer and performer, Dave and the Foo Fighters rock my world, I really enjoyed Katy Perry's new song and she didn't sound like nails on a chalkboard singing, Carrie Underwood could not be more beautiful or talented and seeing The Boss and Sir Paul sing and ROCK out at the end was awesome.

As for the FASHION I was definitely drawn to black.

BEST DRESSED: Rihanna

Hands down, sexy as hell, banging body, GORGEOUSNESS!

I am obsessed with the Armani dress she wore and collaborated on.

Not many people have the body to pull that off. I will be praying to GOD every night to look like that for one hour! Holy Bananas!

The plunge, the slit, the back, the thin, tiny straps.

Runner Up #1: Gwyneth Paltrow

This Stella McCartney dress was chic, polished with a slight edge. I loved the cut away's at the waist and how the neckline and back connected. I like the belt and her simple, sleek pony.

Runner up #2: Chrissy Teigen

I have a thing for long sleeved dresses that show off ONE body part. On this dress it is the slit showing off her leg. I think it is simple yet striking. I am also a HUGE fan of really strappy heels. I am always in search of the perfect pair!

2012 is my self proclaimed "lose weight" year.

If you are a new reader, I decided to write a monthly post about my fitness goals, trials and triumphs with some cute clothes thrown in every now and then. You can read my first post HERE. I am really excited to share my journey with you all.

January was a great month for me. I pushed myself in so many ways. I officially worked out 5x a week for the entire month. FIVE full weeks. I still can't believe it. I know that I started working out in November but I was not fully committed until the end of December. So I look at January as month one. I have started to see little changes but nothing super drastic. I am also my biggest critic ;) How are you all doing? I know many of you shared that you had similar goals and I would love to hear about your progress and help support!

Being at the gym so much I have really seen some interesting outfits. I am blown away by what people wear. I know that it isn't a fashion show BUT some people wear the most inappropriate things. I have to say that I am a girl that wears her hair piled on top of her head, takes off her make up before getting to the gym, sweats like a BEAST and gets completely red. In one word I am a hot mess when working out, and I do not care. BUT I do make sure that I have on an outfit that matches, leaning towards bright colors, and covers all of my imperfections. Being in a cute outfit makes me feel good. So I do not understand when people wear bottoms that are smaller than bathing suit bottoms or jewelry (one girl had on large hoops, three layered necklaces, 5 bracelets a watch and rings. Does she NOT sweat?). While I am doing my best not to judge these people it does remind me why I need to dress in proper gym attire. When I say "proper" I make sure that I am wearing Dri Fit clothing. Dri Fit is work out attire that pulls the sweat away from your body and is soaked up into the clothing. It helps sweaty people like me look a little more out together at the end of a workout. Basically my clothes look dry instead of looking like I showered in them. My typical uniform is a capri pant, sports bra, tank with a built in sports bra and a jacket. These layers make me feel more comfortable when I am working out AND while wearing a jacket is hot it helps with the sweat. Here is an example of what I wear...

What I am wearing: Champion (Target Brand) Dri Fit jacket, Tank and Sports Bra, Zella (Nordy's brand) live in capri legging, Asics tennis shoes.

I mentioned last month that I really wanted this Nike outfit. I headed to Nordstrom and tried it on. I LOVED the sweatshirt (if you can call it that) so I bought it. It is lightweight and perforated which helps my body breathe when working out. I tried on the shorts because I loved the color. Unfortunately they were SEE THRU. So I passed. This month I am looking for some tank tops that are loose. I want something that are not tight around my mid section and long enough to cover my lady parts. I don't like having everything on display when I work out. It has not been cold in CA and it will only get warmer. I have to find some clothing that I can wear sans jacket so I don't die of heat exhaustion. I had my eye on the Lululemon 'No Limits' tank. I tried it on this week and the largest size (size 10) was a bit snug. So I am hoping to pick one up when I lose ten to fifteen more pounds.

Pinterest has continued to help motivate me (follow me if you are as addicted as I am). I have found the best sayings, motivational quotes and bodies to aspire to have. I love the feel good things that I have found but I also like the funny things that I relate to. Here are my two favorites for the week.

Onto my Goals and Results...

My focus for February is to eat five small meals a day, writing down everything that I eat, staying in a caloric intake managed by my trainer and to be able to run for 15 minutes straight by 2/29. This is going to take SO much discipline. I am also going to be working through some mental road blocks as well. You can read about my inner struggle HERE (this is very personal and real. If you want to read about that I encourage you to! I try to keep things a little lighter on the fashion blog. My personal blog has been inactive for a long while but I am starting to blog there again. Check it out.)

I will be reading this all month long as a reminder

As for my results I can tell you this:
- I am STRONGER, way stronger. My work outs have gotten A LOT more challenging and I am able to complete them.
- I am doing an hour of cardio easily
- I have lost between 7-10% body fat
- I am FINALLY starting to believe that I really CAN do this

What I Wore: Punch of Pink

The one item that I NEVER seem to grab for casual looks is my blazer. I think wearing blazers for work for years definitely turned me off to them. YET every time I see an outfit with a blazer I want to emulate it. Bi-Polar, much? When I saw this outfit on Pinterest I figured that I had to try to wear a blazer, sooner rather than later. Luckily, I picked up a neon-ish pink blazer at the Gap a few weeks ago with a 40% off coupon. It is ponte knit so it is less stuffy and really easy to wear. I paired it with my go to BF jeans and a gray top (because I cannot find the perfect white tee for the life of me) and opted for my leopard wedges. I am a sucker for pink and leopard together. I think the whole look came together well. It still feels a little businessy to me but I think I will get over it!

I love how one piece can change an outfit for the better.

When I picked up this faux fur stole at H&M a couple of months ago I knew that it would be special enough to dress up my most basic pieces. I love this shirt but it is a bit sheer in real life and I am always weary of light, voluminous tops (I always look 15 pounds heavier, never a good look) and pairing it with the stole draws your eye up. What I didn't realize was that my hair blends right into the stole and it looks like a whole lotta hair going on! I LOVE these shoes but I have a hard time pairing them with a lot of my clothes. I knew they would be a perfect for this look. I love how the turquoise stones just pop. You may recognize the jeans. I wore them here. They are my Old Navy 'Rockstar' jeggings that I cannot get enough of. I am kind of obsessed with this blue color, the color is kind of retro to me. It is a different blue from anything in my closet and that always makes me happy!

I was comfortable yet sassy!

Sometimes I just want to feel playful.

When I Bought this sweater I knew that it was cheeky and slightly childish (I mean it came from the little boys department) but it made me feel young, youthful and feels FUN! I am loving that neon is a hot trend for spring. It may take me awhile to wear a full on bright outfit but I have no qualms wearing neon accessories. I picked up these flats and have had fun trying them on with different looks. I liked that it gave this outfit pizazz. It is slightly punk rock and a tidge eighties. I loved it!

I have a LOT of clothes. I really do.

I am aware of how lucky I am to have such a full closet.

But one area that I am lacking in is my "going out" clothes.

I stand and stare at my clothes for what feels like hours every time I have to "go out" and be somewhat dressy/trendy/hot. I struggle BIG time on what is appropriate for the place, company, weather and even my age. I went to dinner and a show on Friday night and to a good friend's birthday on Saturday. Both looks were simple and nothing that special :(

What do you all wear when going out?

This outfit was from Saturday night. We had dinner and drinks downtown at a fun pub-like place. I pulled out one of my favorite pieces in my closet to dress up my jeans and tee a little bit. My Winter Kate Jasmine cardi is such a fun and easy piece to wear. I bought the kelly green heels to wear with this piece specifically. I wish that Nicole would bring back more of her simple silk cardigans to her Winter Kate line. I am a HUGE fan of the Old Navy 'Rockstar' jeggings and this is the newest color that I added to my collection. 90% of my jeans are in a dark denim and I loved the blue of this lighter pair. It is a great color for Spring.

Don't you just love easy outfits?

The past couple of days I have worn a button up, pair of jeggings and some flats in very similar looks. Honestly, the outfits have been similar in color too! This look has been my winter uniform (you have seen how many plaid button ups I have worn). Since it has not been too cold here; a thin, long sleeved shirt (generally with the sleeves rolled up) is more than enough warmth. Strangely I have been drawn to flats this past month. Being a heels girl, this is a whole new territory for me. In fact I am still pondering over the Shoemint flats. I decided on the black and snake pair but haven't hit the purchase button just yet!

I spent my Thursday running around. Training sesh, hair appointment AND a quick meet up with the Fabulous Kristen of Love, Lipstick and Pearls. She is the second blogger that I have met in real life and I could not love her more! She is someone that I just knew I would connect with! She is as beautiful and sweet as I expected. I have been so blessed to have met some incredible people through blogging. This was just another reminder :)

I am DYING over the Shoemint 'Hattie'.

They released this pair of flats a day early (yesterday) and I have been obsessing, I mean OBSESSING, over which color combo to purchase. I have been wanting these shoes since I saw the pic above when they first launched the site in November. I am usually drawn towards heels (the other early release was a classic pump. Don't need!) but I am wanting some really cute flats to run around in. I am torn between TWO color combos. IF I had the money I would buy both...BUT I can't justify it! They put out three new pairs of shoes on the first of every month and today is FEBRUARY 1st (WHAT?! How did that happen?) I cannot afford two pairs of the same shoes right now. NOR do I need them. So I am asking you for your help.

I am so excited to share my third outfit and final photo shoot pictures with you. This outfit is probably the most "me" and it is what I felt the most comfortable in. I am a high heel wearing, cozy sweater, skirt and scarf kind of a girl. If it is really cold I will wear jeans :) I loved the neutral colors and that none of the shades were an exact match. I am NOT a matchy matchy girl at all. It has never felt like me. I knew the second that I saw the pin on Pinterest and then put the outfit on that it would be a choice. A LOT of you liked it too!

I know, I know.

More plaid!

I am beginning to think that I should be living in Seattle circa 1992.

You may not know that I am OBSESSED with the movie 'Country Strong'. I watch it at least five times a week, and that is NO exaggeration. Eeek! There is a scene were Gwyneth Paltrow is meeting a "make a Wish" kid and she is wearing a plaid top with leather leggings and boots. I LOVED that look and knew that I wanted to wear something similar. I then remembered that I Pinned THIS OUTFIT and that I could emulate it very closely. I do think that the original is a little better than mine :/

Every piece in this outfit, with the exception of the Scarf, is old!

The plaid tunic has been modified a couple of times in the 3 years I have owned it. It had ties, it's been sewn differently and I am shocked I still have it. I have only worn these leggings once because they do not fit well at all! They roll down and drive me bonkers! I was hoping they would fit a little better since I have lost some weight but no luck! I am glad I tried the look but I probably won't wear it again.

Of all the designer shoes that I own, the brand I have the most pairs of is YSL. I swear these shoes were made for my feet and I fall in love with a new style every season. In. LOVE. This pair is one of my most comfortable. Cognac is such a staple color in my shoe wardrobe and I love the richness of color in these shoes. This pair is a mix of leather and suede which makes them a little different than the other pairs in my closet. I also really fancy the intricate design that covers the toes. It is pretty and interesting.

Fit:
YSL runs true to size. This pair is a size 39 (US 8 1/2-9) and fits perfectly. I have found that their close toe pumps tend to be on the smaller side. But I think that is because of my wider foot. Majority of YSL heels are between 4-6 inches tall. These shoes are not for those afraid of wearing HIGH heels.

Wear:
These shoes are tough and can take a beating. I have worn them all day at work, out on the town and out to dinner. The platform in front gives a little more stability when walking and helps balance out the HIGH heel.

Comfortability:
This pair of shoes was so comfortable from day ONE! I did not have to break these in and I was able to wear them for 8 hours straight. I am a HUGE fan of suede shoes because they tend to give a little and mold to your foot. I am sure that is why they were a little more comfortable from the beginning.

HAPPY FRIDAY, FRIENDS!!!

It has been a very long and productive week.

Work outs have been GREAT, my diet is about to get insane, I am moving in the right direction for the next chapter of my life, I think I FINALLY have closure and it's the weekend! WooooHooooo!

I am excited to share the pictures of my second outfit. This outfit was the HANDS down winner chosen by all of my readers (that commented. Haha). While it was your favorite I was SUPER apprehensive about it. I didn't think that it showed off my weight loss as much as I wanted, the skirt is short and flouncy which creates volume and being outside I knew it wouldn't be easy to maneuver in. BUT it was definitely the most 'fashion' of the looks and very trend right. I like how the pics turned out BUT I probably would chose a more flattering look next time around.

I was lucky that I had a couple of meetings in the beach town where I went to college. I took a walk down memory lane as I walked around campus. It was still perfectly manicured and it smelled the same (that may sound weird but there is a specific plant/tree that permeates the campus in a good way). It is fun to see all of the kids walking to class, what they wear and how they conduct themselves. I also spent some time walking up and down the streets in the neighborhood that I lived in for 6 years. I knew I missed the quaint little area but I didn't realize how MUCH I missed it. I also went and sat at "my beach" and just stared at the water. It was as calming as ever! I call it "my" beach because for years it was the only place that I could go and completely relax. I would go and lay out, read and listen to music on my days off. Nothing makes me happier. It is funny because you never truly realize how much you give up when making life decisions until you don't have it anymore! That is my deep thought of the day ;)

Since I started the day with meetings I wore a slightly business casual look. I sassed it up with my snake print jeggings that I got for Christmas. I love blazers but never feel like they look good on me, even though I still wear them. Haha. I think I just have not found one that hits me in the right places at my chest and waist. This one is made of sweatshirt material and is pretty comfy. I added a drapey tank and simple black stilettos to complete the look. My only complaint (why I have to complain on the blog is beyond me :/) was that it was almost 80 degrees and it was too hot to be wearing so many clothes. Haha. Summer in January is pretty awesome.

What a difference posing makes...Baggy things don't always help you look slimmer. Learn from me! I have to get more comfortable wearing more form fitting things as I lose weight. I never realized how much I hid behind baggy clothes!

I was given GREAT feedback from Miss Alyson that it is often hard to see my face and details of my outfits in my pics and that it was more obvious after posting my Photo Shoot pics. Half the time (ok may 3/4) I am NOT wearing make up and I don't want to scare you all. BUT I do need to work on my photography, better picture taking and showing you the details. The first outfit was not one of the winners BUT was an outfit that I liked. The colors and the print of the skirt were what drew me in. Pairing it with neutrals let the skirt shine. An FYI about the skirt...it is actually ankle length. I pulled it up right under my chest because I know that skirts that hit me right below the knee are the most flattering on my body type.

From the Pony Tail to the Boots I think her look is perfection. YES the boots may be a tad bit difficult while going through Security but they are WEDGES which make it WAY easier to run through airports when needed. Leggings are the best bottoms to wear on a plane. They move with you. This Whitney Eve sweater is long and loose. It can double as a blanket when you need to cover up and get away from the chilly, recessed air. I have to talk about the pony tail. It is high enough that it won't get in the way when resting your head against the seat. Plus it looks FAB. I wish I had thick enough hair to have my pony's look like hers. She is carrying a bag large enough to carry the essentials.

I love having a reason to wear my Winter clothes.

It rained yesterday and I ran to my closet to bust out my Hunter's and a large sweater. I am happy to have the 6 or 7 rainy days a year. Any more than that would put me over the edge.

This is one of my favorite outfits that I have worn in a long time. I loved the colors. I am having a huge love affair with anything Southwestern especially the prints and the colors rust and teal. This sweater is an explosion of color and it makes me happy. I have a HUGE affinity for blanket like sweaters. The more they wrap and drape the more I like them. I have worn my Hunter's a few times but this is the first time I paired them with socks. I was worried that the length of the sweater, the socks and boots would make my legs look stubby but I think the proportions worked out pretty well. I think that my turquoise earrings were the perfect accessory to add a little more pop.

Oh Monday, we meet again!

Even after a really relaxing weekend I am still not prepared for you.

I spent the weekend in Palm Springs. It was CRAZY windy and we spent much of the weekend indoors, watching Lifetime movies. So cliche ;)

I am obsessed with Palm Springs and going out there is one of my favorite getaways. The place holds a lot of memories for me so I definitely battled with a Ghost of the (recent) Past. Taking on each day is the only way to move forward, some days being easier than others.

I wanted to share with you my manicure from last week. If you follow me on Instagram this is old news, sorry friends! But I found a picture on Pinterest (shocking I know as my obsession continues to grow. I pin every night before bed and prolong my bedtime by hours. It is a true sickness!) and knew that I HAD to try it out for myself.

This manicure was done by none other than the great Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere. This picture is from her Twitter account via Pinterest.

I already had a nude polish that I am obsessed with. It is 'Naked' by Deborah Lipmann. It is truly nude and not pinky which is what I love about it. I needed a pink glitter polish and did not want to spend a ton of money (I am getting cheap, I guess. Haha) and I happened to read this post by Katie and I headed straight to Target. I picked up Revlon 'Sparkling' for $3.99. SCORE! It was exactly what I was looking for.

I LOVED this manicure. It lasted for six days (mine usually last 4-5 days). It was natural with a slight pop. It was needed after 3 weeks of dark polish.

What I Wore: Wool Hat and Sandals

It may look like my outfit is confused. I mean who wears a wool hat with sandals? The answer would be me. And as silly as it sounds I actually really liked this look. I bought these shoes back in November after it started getting to be too "cold" to wear sandals and quite honestly I have been dying to wear them. So as it has warmed up here I knew it was time to bust them out. I have been wanting to pair a pair of leopard shoes with a striped sweater for awhile. The hat comes in because I had to throw something on to cover my work out hair. I am telling you I hate doing my hair! The camel color really was a great complement to the lighter colors I was wearing and brought out the camel in my sandals. I have to talk about my BF jeans. I am obsessed (and have been for two years). I think that wearing looser jeans is the best invention ever! I am definitely going to do a dressier look with them soon.

I am so excited to be linking up with my dear blogging buddy, Amber, of Real Girl Glam. When I read that the link up was to base an outfit around a pair of shoes I knew that I had to wear THESE. It was really fun to put together an everyday look for such pretty shoes.

I have had this rosette sweater since the Summer and I have only worn it once. I love the color of it and was very inspired all of the blush dresses at The Golden Globes. I paired it with a tank, since the sweater is cropped, and my dark skinnies. Adding the Rose Gold bangles and the watch was the perfect touch. I wanted a pair of earrings that complimented the look but still made a statement since I was wearing my hair up. I like how the look came together with my Loubs.

Happy Monday!

The weekend goes by so quickly, doesn't it? I hope you all had a nice weekend and that you got to check out all of the Golden Globes fashion! There were some beautiful dresses! I love Awards season...and the Globes are the "kick off". It is nice to have something girly to watch in between the NFL playoffs and the NBA. I had a nice weekend. Spent some time in LA, watched the Patriots/Broncos game and hung out with the BFF watching the Golden Globes. I also worked out five times last week with a LONG cardio work out on Saturday to end the week. It felt good. The worst thing about working out so much is that I have to wash my hair all of the time (when I didn't work out I washed it twice a week) and washing it means I have to actually dry it. Blah! Since I hate actually doing my hair it has ended up in braids, under a hat or in a bun. The styling process is awful and the heat destroys my hair so I am trying to be creative. I am using A LOT more dry shampoo ;)

I wore this outfit out in Hollywood the other night. You can see that I am wearing plaid. Again. Since plaid shirts can be a little more masculine I made sure to add some girly touches. My Carrie Bradshaw bun, a delicate necklace and HIGH heeled sandals did the trick. I am weird about making masculine pieces seem more feminine. I have to point out that this top is very fitted. I think wearing a form fitting plaid top is more "girly" than the longer, looser flannels I am drawn too. I don't normally wear tight fitting tops and I am trying to get used to it. I know that my style will change as different clothes start to fit and look better on me. This outfit was perfect for the bar we went to. I felt cute and appropriately dressed.

I always strive to keep it real on the blog.

This is my style journey, my life journey, and when I look back on old posts I think it is awesome to see how I used clothing to express myself. Not every outfit is considered 'blog' worthy but I want you to see the real me. This week has been emotionally tough. I have been dealing with the past, trying to sort through feelings that I chose not to deal with for awhile. I have randomly started crying at songs, I am flooded with memories and insomnia has reared it's ugly head. Yet I am still living my life, working towards goals and "functioning" in a way that no one would realize how much I have been dealing with internally. It is funny how we know how to make everything look like it is great. I have to say that I actually am HAPPY in spite of the emotions. I feel so blessed and know that everything that we go through betters us. I am THANKFUL for the past even when I have to deal with it. It is funny that this week I have been drawn to blue clothing. Crazy how it reflects my mood. The past few days I have worn a large amount of blue, have been drawn to blue items and even wore blue eyeliner. Who am I? Blue is not typically a go to color. Haha.

I received my January Stylemint shirt in the mail and knew I had to wear it immediately. It's Navy. Awesome. I have received quite a few emails asking me about my Stylemint tee's. I have bought AT LEAST one shirt a month since the launch (with the exception of December since I didn't LOVE any of them). The shirts are very true to size, SUPER soft and go with everything in my wardrobe. They look great after being washed, keep their shape and there are so many styles to choose from. I highly recommend the line. ANYWHO...I don't typically like Navy and dark denim together, I tend to wear navy with a lighter denim, but I wanted to wear these jeans since they fit me perfectly right now :) My hair was not presentable so throwing on a beanie was just the touch I needed to lighten up the all blue ensemble. I find it very amusing that I was wearing flip flops with a beanie. You see it is not cold where I live. It was 75 degrees today. When I went out it was around 67. The beanie was for looks, not warmth. Only in CA will you see people wearing beanies and flip flops together. I'm not wearing make up either. I am happy my glasses hide that. Looking at the pics I maaayyyyy need to buy a smaller size in the shirts next time around. It is a little big, COMFY, but big. YAY! Overall I felt like an emo, CA Hipster in this ensemble. Ay yi yi!

I love how so many style mavens are wearing bright and colorful heels. I have accumulated some great looks that I have to share since they bring me inspiration. I wish I could wear half of these outfits! They are incredible.

Hello Sexpot! I love how classically sexy Ashley Greene looks. The blood red pump sasses up the gorgeous white dress and houndstooth clutch.

Gahhhhh...I love this look. The lace dress is insane and such a statement all it's own. I love how Brooklyn went out of the box and wore statement, bold yellow heels.

Gray and Red...such a sophisticated color combo.

The heels take a simple sheath from basic to sexy.

WHO has the guts to wear a white shorts suit? Eva does. AND she looks DAMN good in it. I LOVE the strappy turquoise heel. Showcases the FUN in wearing a shorts suit. Super Sexy!

The edges are INSANE. I love the bow across the toes. Just a smidge of daintiness. :)

Wisdom, Wit and What I Want Wednesday {24}

I have a whole new outlook for 2012.

While I am totally excited about it, it is going to be a slight challenge.

I am having to teach myself new habits and there are some growing pains.

I am speaking specifically to shopping.

As in, I can't.
Or can't like I used to.
It sucks.

I was complaining to my mom about it and she said to just stop looking. Right.

I then explained how I would have to give up blogging (and Pinterest) and there was no way that I was going to do that. You see, every time I open my laptop up I find something GREAT and AMAZING that I HAVE to HAVE! You all find the most amazing things, it tempts me to bust out the credit card (which I REALLY can't do). I then realized that my What I Want Wednesday posts are doing the exact same thing. BUT the worst part, is that I am actually searching for things to lust and covet. I decided that I have to put this series on hold for the time being. Be smart. Making a wise decision.

Doing this leaves a gap or void. I like having different "series" to fall back on when I do not have an outfit post. So I need something to take What I Want Wednesday's place and I am kind of stumped.

- Do I move my *new* series Fashionista Fitness to Wednesdays making it a weekly post instead of a monthly post?

- Do I use Wednesday's to get a little more personal and share my heart? (This scares me as I do have a dormant personal blog that I could re open. PLUS I love that this is a blog about style, specifically mine, without tying a lot of personal ish in.)

- Do I focus on "beauty" type things...make up, products, hair, nail polish reviews?

- Do I continue my "Shoe Love" series on this day?
- Do I focus on accessories and how to wear them?
- Do I take any of your fabulous suggestions and grow them?

SO. MANY. Choices!
Good thing I have one week to figure it out.

As for my photo shoot...it's today. At 3pm.
I believe that I have settled on outfits Two (my top choice), Four (YOUR top choice) and Six (the "iffy" look due to the Chevron print). But I may also bring Look One as well becuase these pics will all be outdoors, in nature and wearing short skirts might not be so easy to manuver in. I am so indecisve these days. Haha. I just know it will be a very fun afternoon! Wish me luck!

What I Want...
I have to post one last thing. I am OBSESSED with these shoes. They aren't cheap. But what designer is? I think that these would be PEERRRRFFFEEECCCTTTT for my 30th birthday and possible Cabo trip. Right?

What I Wore: Plaid pursuit

I am having a love affair with Plaid.

Seeing Krystal rock it in so many different ways, paired with a scarf like Alicia or on my gorgeous friend Raymie (pictured below) makes me want to scoop up every one I find. If I had to buy just one it would be thinner (not a flannel) and have Red and Green in it. I am on the hunt!

I had this scarf on my Nordstrom Wish List for a couple of months. I don't know why I waited so long to buy it! I picked it up the week after Christmas (ON SALE) and it is seriously perfect. It is big but not bulky and the colors are gorgeous. In fact the scarf goes perfectly with the shoes my sister got me for Christmas, and that I refuse to take off of my feet. They are amazingly comfortable and my cognac obsession continues to grow. Black and cognac is seriously my favorite color combo right now. It just looks SO good together! I wore this outfit (minus the scarf since it was so dang hot) to meet friends in San Diego for lunch. Sometimes the simplest pieces just make for the best outfits!

A New Year brings a New Series...

On the first Friday of every month I will be posting about fitness, the best outfits/brands to work out in, some inspirational pictures or quotes that I have found and briefly talking about my goals and progress. I know that January is when everyone jumps back on the proverbial exercise wagon so I think it is a good time to talk about this!

I have always been pretty open on the blog about my struggle with my weight. I have tried a lot of the fad diets, joined Weight Watchers and have had trainers. BUT my head and my heart was never completely in it. I could explain why but I don't need to put all of my emotional baggage out there for you all. All I will say is that I am turning 30 in May and I do not want to enter my thirties using the same excuses to not have the body I truly want. In November (six months from my 30th birthday and in the turmoil of my break up) I decided that I had six months to lose 30lbs by my 30th birthday and to just go for it. I met with a friend's brother who is a Personal Trainer and began my new journey. It has been a challenge, it isn't easy, I am being pushed MENTALLY and physically. J gets me, he LISTENS to what I need and tells me what I need, NOT what I want to hear. He also motivates me and encourages in the appropriate way. I am spending more time with J than I am my own friends so it is important that we have a connection. I had to TRUST the person that I was putting so much faith in. Check out his blog and send some comment love his way! That is the back story so you know why I am motivated to write this series.

Now the style tie in...OBVIOUSLY we showcase our bodies every time we do an outfit post. I see pictures of myself and they do not make me happy. Blogging my WIW posts have been extremely eye opening. Through my weight loss process I am excited that I am going to HAVE to buy new clothes. I also need cute work out clothes to work out in. YES I am 100% motivated by a cute outfit when I work out. SO I am going to motivate myself by buying cute outfits along the way. I received the Nordstrom catalog last week and saw their "fitness" spread (since it is January...the gym's BUSIEST month of the year) and I fell in LOVE with this Nike outfit. I have an appointment to try it on this afternoon. :) I layer A LOT when I work out. Trying to hide my rolls in spandex is not easy. We worked out in the 85 degree weather, you read that right, yesterday morning and I knew that I was going to have to buy more shorts and tanks to stand the heat. LUCKILY I really like my legs and short shorts don't scare me (tight things around my midriff do).

J won't weigh or do measurements because he knows that they are a mind block for me. Smart Trainer. He even took my scale out of my house. So when I say we "think" it means that I have weighed myself one time, at the gym (we don't work out in a gym. I go on my off days without him. We work out 3x a week.) the week before Christmas. I was down 12 pounds from our initial weigh in.

Bloggers Do it Better: Sequins

It has been a few months since I have participated in a Bloggers Do It Better challenge. I was really excited to see that this month is all about sequins! I was originally going to post a fancy, dressy outfit. But then I realized that I wanted to find a way to wear my sequin skirt in a more casual ensemble. This look is different for me. It is kind of sloppy, a little skaterish and pretty comfy! The only thing that I would complain about is that this outfit does NOTHING for my shape. I am working so hard to lose weight and this look doesn't showcase my hard work. I also have NEVER done an outfit post with sneakers on. I like that my look isn't polished. It reflects who I am at this moment. I love how clothes can be used to tell a story, envoke a feeling and represent the true "you".

What I Want Wednesday {23}

Twitter has been abuzz with people DYING for Spring to arrive. They are posting pics of pastels, brights and dresses. I know that I may sound like The Grinch but I am NOT ready. At ALL. I am not trying to brag but it has not even been Winter here. I haven't worn my sweaters, coats and boots nearly enough. I even plan on going to the beach on Friday. Yes, I said it. I just want to have some kind of cold weather...maybe in February?

With that little rant out of the way (I swear it will tie in to this post in just a minute) I wanted to share that I am having a personal style conflict. I feel like I am drawn to so many trends and want to try different things all the time. Right now I am leaning towards a more casual, rockerish look. I think I am at an 'edgier' place in my life and dressing up doesn't quite fit that picture. I LOVED what I wore on NYE but I could have gone a totally different (read: rocker) route as well. I have always described my personal style as California chic, where Lauren Conrad meets Nicole Richie. I think that is still true but right now I am leaning more boho than California cute. SO I hope that you all bare with me as I try some new looks and outfits on the blog.

With the weather (see the tie in) and my new thoughts on my personal style I am drawn to some different pieces right now. I have to say I feel like a brat posting about things that I want a mere two weeks after Christmas. Oh well. The heart wants what it wants. And Fashion is never far from my heart :)

I do HAVE to say that I am refraining from buying clothes. My fitness program is in full effect and I don't want to buy things that I won't be able to wear later on. If I happen to buy things it will be items where sizing doesn't matter much and that can be worn with a lot of things. I am only adding basics or items that will complete my massive clothing collection. I am also stalking bathing suits and cover ups for my Mexico trips (yes trips, plural. I am going twice in 2012).

What I Wore: Bad, just bad

Well folks, it looks like I am bringning you another post with really awful pictures. I could not post a W.I.W. post but I like getting outfit pics up! For you, for me and for the record. So I will say these are bad, just bad!

With that disclaimer out of the way...I actually really liked this outfit. Colder weather means that I get to wear my {faux} leather jackets. They give any outfit some cool cred. I paired the jacket with my go to plaid top and some bell bottoms. I wear dark denim about 95% of the time. It was nice to wear a lighter color (although I don't think that they are the most flattering since they are about a size too big) to switch up my look a bit. I also wore my new shoes that my sis got me for Christmas. They are awesome and very seventies looking.

Random FYI...I took these pics at 3am. It was SO SUPER foggy that when I was driving home I could not see more than 10 feet in front of me. When taking these pics it looked like it was snowing. CRAZINESS. So if you see a haze in the pics...you know why :)

I went into 2012 feeling so blessed.

Seriously I have some incredible, supportive and loving people in my life. It truly blows me away. I have been quite active on Facebook lately (I really only posted pics and updates on Holidays/Birthdays for the last year and a half) and the (re)connection I have had with people has been pretty awesome. Let's just say that it is hard to feel bad or down when everyone has been so loving and encouraging. I post my Instagram pics to my Twitter and Facebook feed. I gave a sneak peak to my NYE outfit (which ended up being the best pic I have. SORRY for blurry pics, again. May have to add that to the list of things to better in 2012) and everyone made me feel like a movie star. I definitely walked a round with a strut. And that is SO not like me.

NYE was fun... nothing too crazy and obviously doesn't live up to the hype. I am a firm believer that it never will. We ran around LA between a party in Burbank and on the streets of Hollywood. We drank champagne, heard a band, saw an incredible view and made it home by 3:30am. Just an FYI...I decided that I want to get married on NYE. THAT would be the ultimate party. Your family and friends are with you to celebrate a union. And how cool is it to start a brand new year with your husband? Good plan, right??

A New Year.

It is a time for new beginnings. To start fresh.

The perfect time to say, 'HELLO'!

I am so excited for 2012. This year is going to be life changing for me. I just know it. Yesterday I said good bye to many things. Saying good bye and closing the door only means one thing...lots of open windows and doors. I am choosing to focus on the opportunities and to not stare longingly at the closed doors.

Please help me say HELLO to the following...

My Bucket/Life list: I started writing out my list a few months ago. I currently have 45 items on that list. I want to start checking them off!
Furthering my education: more on this as it unfolds
Blogging: A continuation of my personal style diary and new partnerships.
Dating and the possibility of a new relationship: I am not going to be scared to get out there and find someone special. The whole dating process is unsettling. I have never been a good "dater". So this should be interesting. P.S. If anyone knows Ryan Gosling or Garrett Hedlund can you send them my way? Thanks ;)
Making the most of the people and friendships in my life: going out, trying new things, spending time, taking pictures and being in the moment.
30 by 30: I have made the decision to lose 30 pounds by my 30th birthday in May. I have a personal trainer and I have been working out 3-5x a week. I have never been able to lose that much weight. It WILL happen. AND then I will drag my skinny ass to Cabo and party the week away. :)
Acceptance: of myself, people in my life and people that I meet. Respecting and understanding who they are and loving them for it. I cannot change or fix people, nor should I want to. I think we all will be much happier! ;)

I want to make it clear that none of these are "resolutions".

This is my future. I am making a conscious decision to live a happier, healthier life. Period!

2011: The Year of 'Good Bye'

What a year!

It is safe to say that 2011 was my most trying of my adult years.
I am dubbing 2011 as the year of 'Good Bye'.

I saw so many doors close this year. I made changes that I never thought that I would. I was stretched, pushed, challenged and quite honestly put through the wringer. Yet I know that through all of the trials I have become stronger. I have found "me" and I am striving to be the person that I know God wants me to be.

This blog has gotten me through.
Each and every one of you has found a way to make me smile, to push through, to fight harder. Thank you for supporting me, accepting me and loving me. Blogging is real and it is raw. You put yourself out there and ask people to accept you. It isn't easy. I have found a confidence in myself, in who I am and where I am going. I have NO clue where I will take this blog into the next year but I am excited to see where it will go!

So with that I say Good Bye...

To my big fancy career: Leaving my job that I had since college was difficult but necessary. I firmly believe that when the passion is gone you leave. Period. NO amount of money (although it is nice to have) is worth sacrificing your life, time family or relationship. Lesson Learned.
To my "home": Home is where the heart is. In the past two years I left a home that I built with someone and I left my hometown (again). When you lose those things, you feel lost. I have had to learn that it is people that make a 'home' and that "feeling" that I was searching for will always be there.
To a true love: Ending a 6 year relationship is gut wrenching. It tears you from the inside out. But staying with someone for the wrong reasons is never ok. Realizing that put my life in a tailspin. I grew up in that relationship. I will be forever grateful to know what it is like to love and to have been loved. I will take those fond memories with me and keep them in my heart. Forever.
To a job/new venture: I tried and I failed (kind of, in my eyes). And I am better for it. Seriously. Things happen for a reason and other doors open.
To INSECURITY: I know what I want. I know what I deserve. I will no longer settle. I say good bye to the girl that questioned every decision/thought/emotion. Shoe Love: Christian Louboutin 'Maggie'

How do I love shoes?

Let me count the pairs...

If you have been a follower of the blog for awhile you will know that I love shoes. I am always looking for new pairs and you can often find my latest lust worthy pair in my What I Want Wednesday posts. After my Shoemint review and a few pics of my closet on Twitter I had quite a few of you comment that you wanted to see more of my shoes. Well, my friends, I am going to show you! This will be a post every week or two. I would love to hear from you what you would like to know about the shoes or designer. All shoes are NOT made equally so ask away!

These beauties are my FIRST pair of Louboutin's. NO Fashionista's closet is complete without some Loub's in it! I fell in love with these shoes because of the pinky nude color. The color can be paired with ANYTHING and they elongate my legs. I love the metal, mesh toe cap. It is a small detail that makes the pumps interesting without being too trendy. I bought these shoes to help perk me up while going through some rough waters! They didn't quite do the trick but they sure do make me smile.

Fit:
CL's tend to run SMALL. In designer label shoes I tend to wear a 39 (US size 9) and these are a 40 (US size 10). In regular label shoes I wear in 8.5-9 depending on the width. When buying designer shoes you need to know that the toe box is generally very narrow. ALWAYS try them on.
*** I have WIDE feet. I tend to size up in shoes for comfort and then add Foot Petals or Dr. Scholl's in to help them fit better.

Wear:
I always wear my shoes around the house for hours before I actually have to wear them. The sales associate told me to NOT wear the CL's for more than 4 hours the first time I wore them. They need to be broken in! Patent leather is usually more uncomfortable because they are stiff and don't have much give.

Comfortability:
I haven't worn these shoes out of the house. They are still being broken in :)
I am probably going to wear them on New Year's Eve.

Tuesday Travel Style {43}

Every time I see a picture of Sienna Miller all I ever think is how "cool" she is. She has that effortless, "I just threw on the first thing I saw" look that I truly envy. The girl makes the most basic of pieces look chic.

I don't know if it is the colors in the outfit or the fun and sassy boots that make me like this look so much. Overall this is a great outfit for travel. The only thing that may give her slight trouble is the boots but they look like they slide on and off pretty easily. I love the striped tee with the cardigan. Although it is the HANDBAG that not only compliments the combo but stands out as well. The neutral palette looks great with a lighter wash jeans. Taupe suede boots should be in every wardrobe. The cognac buckles make this particular pair a stand out. The whole outfit has a rocker vibe. I am a HUGE fan!

What I Wore: Candy Striper

I am sitting in the middle of wrapping paper, ribbon, bows and anything else you can think of to create awesome and fun gifts for the people in my life. I LOVE giving. I really do. It is such an awesome feeling to make someone feel good. This truly has been an awesome Holiday Season.

I thought I was done shopping until Thursday. That is when I decided to buy for just one more person. This person needs some cheer in their life and I hope that I am able to accomplish that. I concocted a great idea to put together a gift box of small gifts with my Twitter friends today. We came up with five small gifts, I labeled each one and gave directions on which gifts should be opened first. I plan on leaving it on their doorstep on Christmas Eve. It is a surprise and I am SO excited about it.

Being in the Holiday spirit I am drawn to wearing red. I threw on this ensemble in my mad dash out the door to play Santa. Haha. I love this Stylemint shirt. I originally had it on with some bell bottoms until I realized I had not worn my red jeggings in awhile. I wanted to wear my leopard flats since I love the combo with the stripes. I had to throw on a hat since I had no time or patience to do my hair. And viola...an outfit is born.

I don't know about you but I L-O-V-E Mexican Food.

Luckily living in So Cal I don't have to look far for some authentic goodness. I have lived outside of CA and nothing compares. Nothing. So when I was invited to help make Christmas Tamales with my friend Lauren and her family I JUMPED at the chance. I mean what could be more fun? Celebrating the holiday, spending time with friends and good food (and plenty to drink) was exactly the kind of activity I needed. I was posting Instagram pics throughout the day and Miss Kristen asked how I managed to look fashionable while cooking. I can tell you that my first thought was to throw on my comfies and that fashion was far from my mind. I wanted to wear red for the Holidays and I knew that pics would be involved because Lauren is a total photog! Then I threw on an awesome floral apron and CHIC would be the one word to describe my outfit. HAHA.

Tuesday Travel Style {42}

It has been ONE year since I stopped traveling for work. This week, one year ago, I was sitting on a plane without a thought in my head that it would be the last time that I would commute to work by plane. I ENJOYED my job but the traveling and stress did me in. My body couldn't handle it anymore. This series started because of all of the outfits that I would see in the airports. I wanted to continue to be inspired, I wanted to look chic and I wanted to share it all with you.

This week's travelista is Nicky Hilton. She wore this outfit about a month and a half again at LAX. I am a HUGE fan of black, an edgier or tougher look and Nicky definitely works it. I love how this look has that edge but also a touch of whimsy and femininity.

This look is PERFECT for travel. It looks comfy and chic, while being pieces that make it easy to move about the plane and that are easy too remove while going through security. I am totally DIGGING the sweater and I am NOT a heart/flowers/ruffles girl at all. I think it looks great with a simple classics like a tee and leggings. The pop of red is gorgeous and makes you stand out! I love how she paired it with red ballet flats to compliment the heart detail. Her hair looks great in a side braid. The Ray Ban wayfarers give the look a slight rock and roll edge. Her handbags are incredible and the perfect size to carry on. Nicky is quite the traveler and she "gets" it.

What I Wore: Chambray Charm

Whoever decided to bring back Chambray shirts and make denim on denim cool again is my fav! I picked up this chambray button up at Old Navy last week and I am head over heels. I have a lighter chambray button up that I have worn a lot but never quite liked the way it fit me. I have been buying the Old Navy button ups for awhile and I cannot say enough about them. They are soft, on the sheerer side and fit my body perfectly! I knew that I HAD to buy it in Chambray the second I saw it. It joins my numerous plaid, gingham and white button ups in my closet. Yay! Well I have plenty of outfits picked out based around this top. Pairing it with black jeans and cognac boots was first on my list. I don't know why I am obsessed with the black and cognac color combo but I am. I love how it looks rich and comfy all at the same time! YES, the outfit is pretty basic but I felt good in it!

How do I love shoes?

Let me count the pairs...

I have a full blown love affair with shoes.

It started at a young age. The first time I worked hard to earn a pair of shoes was when I was 4. I had to pass my swimming lessons tests to get a pair of gorgeous turquiose, cut out flats (it was the 80's). I passed with flying colors AND ahead of my entire class (clearly I have been a type A, over achiever since birth too). I walked out of the pool gates in a dripping wet swimsuit and those pretty flats with a HUGE smile on my face. Full. Blown. ADDICT!

You all saw my blog posts and tweets about signing up for Shoemint. I hope that you all did becuase I am NOT disappointed. What I Wore: Christmas Shopping

It is December 14th and I am DONE with my Christmas shopping!

It feels so good to have that accomplished so I can focus on the spirit of the Season instead of the material goods that tend to over shadow the real meaning of the Holiday. I have had a tough year. BUT getting to spend the next two weeks with friends and family is a great way to end this year on a high note.

I tend to error on the casual side of dressing when I am running all around town. Nothing is better to wear than a chunky knit sweater and some boots. I bought this sweater recently and I am obsessed. it is so comfy and cozy, the color goes with everything and I could literally throw it on and feel like my outfit is complete.

Sunday night I took myself on a date.

I am making myself go out and experience the Holiday goodness even when I cannot find someone to go with me. One weekend a year there are 12 churches that each create scenes of Jesus' birth story. I wanted to make sure I saw it this year. So I bundled up, it has been in the brisk fifties at night here in So Cal, and headed to the nearest Starbucks to grab a warm beverage.

I wore ANOTHER sweater from the boys department at Target. I have been obsessed since buying this one. They fit great and are under fifteen bucks. Perfect for a lady on a budget. I busted out an old hat, wrapped up in my fav scarf and threw on some boots. Looking at these pics I realized NOTHING matched. Hahaha. Love when that happens ;) At least I was warm.

I am SO excited that I am getting to enjoy the Holiday Season.

This weekend I worked hard accomplishing things on my short Christmas List.

I went to my first Christmas party of the season. I also enjoyed a live show of the Nativity and the story of the birth of Jesus. I am trying to do things that get me into the Holiday spirit.

I wore an AWESOME sweater from Walmart. It definitely wasn't "ugly" but it was ugly to me. I still had to look cute I could't help it. I wore my new Shoemint 'Edith' heels. SO OBSESSED. They are so gorgeous and so comfy even though they are 6 inches. They are incredibly well made! You all should sign up!

Clearly I have been Missing in Action. A lot is going on in my world. I totally miss blogging and the community. I have no clue what is going on out there in blogger land!! I hope you all are well.

Hi Friends!

It has been awhile.

I hope you all had a FABULOUS Thanksgiving weekend.

It still hasn't hit me that it is December.

This is the first Holiday Season in four years that I will not be traveling.

I am SO excited to make the most of it. I want to really celebrate and get into the Christmas season. I have a short list of things that I hope to do this month.

They are...

1. Drive around looking at Christmas lights while drinking a Peppermint Mocha

2. Go Ice Skating at an outdoor rink (if there is one in CA? Haha)

3. Walk around The Grove in LA during their "Winter Wonderland" (Kristen...you in?? This could be our meet up!)

4. Have a Kiss underneath the Mistletoe

5. Attend as many Holiday Parties as I can (or am invited too)

Do you ever just want to be incognito?

To just fly under the radar and pass quietly through the night?

I do.

Instead of hiding or sleeping the craziness away I am seeking God.

I know that he is giving me the strength to deal with my life at the moment.

He is pushing me, encouraging me to seek him instead of others.

I am enjoying my solitude because it means that I am talking to him (sometimes yelling, but he can take it). I am thankful for this stretching and growth period. I know that there is beauty in the pain.

While I have been seeking my heavenly father, my human father has also been there by my side. He has pretty much spent the last week with me, helping me out, talking with me, loving me. Today is his 60th birthday. (I just typed two sentences and my eyes are already welling up with tears). I cannot tell you all how much I love and appreciate him. He has literally been working his ASS off to take care of the remodel at my place and to be there emotionally for me the past few weeks. He is the hardest working man I have ever met. He gives and gives. Plus he loves unconditionally. I am SO lucky to have him, I know that many of you cannot write the things that I am (and that breaks my heart), and I thank the lord daily for him AND my mom.

DAD... Happy Happy Birthday! You deserve to be spoiled on your day. I wish you the most amazing and blessed year ever. I hope you ALWAYS know how much we love you! Forever my hero, LOVE you with all my heart! Xxoo

Last weekend was a little on the chillier side and it has been in the 60's all week. Fall is officially here and it has been so great to bust out a new wardrobe. I am LOVING my accessories (as I shared last week) and my boots! They are making even the oldest things seem new. <3

I wore this outfit to a work event last week. These jeans are the Old Navy pair that I bought for 8 bucks. EIGHT. DOLLARS. They are so long (I am wearing 5 1/2 inch wedges) and totally elongate my body. Since I wanted to showcase my jewelry and cool headband, I wore a basic black tunic. I loved this look and felt sassy all day.

Happy Friday Y'all!

I wasn't going to post today but then realized it is 11/11/11.

It is supposed to be "magical" day. I need some love, luck and God after the week I have had. My life has been slightly crazy and I wasn't able to get my Fall Inspired pics or post done. Amber...I am sad to miss your link up and will do a better job to participate next month!

What better way to post when you don't have any outfit pics than to share some more fun facts. These will be kind of random but another glimpse as to who I am. :)

I cannot sleep with socks on. Even if I am somehow able to fall asleep they will be at the bottom of my bed when I wake up.
I never put my clothes away or hang them up right away. I create piles through out the week and then do a massive hang up/put away sesh when it starts to drive me bonkers.
I love anything banana flavored. I cannot pass it up once the B word has been said.
I only wash my hair twice a week.
I love to cuddle but cannot be touched when I am actually going to sleep. I need my space.
I hate not being able to accomplish something and will fight until I get it right.
I am a voracious reader and will read all night to finish an insanely good book. I have been this way since I was a little girl.
I watch rerun's of old shows all the time. I would be lost with out my Friends and SATC DVD's.
Music is what I turn to no matter what I am feeling. There is always a song that I can relate to. It soothes my soul.
I want to start writing my personal blog again. But the task is daunting and I am not sure where I would want it to go. So it stays dormant and lonely. :(

The reoccurring theme on the blog this week has been accessories. And how much I love them. I mean L-O-V-E them. Monday you got to see my scarf and rad riding boots. Wednesday I shared my love for Sunnies and flip flops. Today is all about hats (and another pair of pretty rad boots). My love for hats started about 7 years ago. I buy them all of the time and wear one about once a week. Recently I bought a turquoise hat rack that looks amazing in my room. I get to see all of my pretty hats at one time. I throw a hat on to complete my look OR to cover my dirty hair. Either way they are fun and look good.

I put this ensemble together over the weekend. It was chilly and cool after the rain. This hat is newer and have been dying to wear it. I have a couple other outfits in mind that i cannot wait to show you all. Flowy sweaters, cashmere scarves and motorcycle boots are perfect for cutting out the chill and still looking good. I wore this out to the mall and had THREE different people tell me how much they liked my style. I was flattered and excited. It is funny how the simple things sometimes make the biggest impression on others.

Today was one of those days that I just wanted to throw on some comfies and call it a day. I tend to favor the basics these days and dressing up is far from my mind on my day off. I threw on this outfit today, laughing at how "boyish" I looked and even tweeted sarcastically about putting it on the blog. WELL my friends, I got a rsounding YES, post it. So you can thank my #RLOT gals for encouraging this not so fashiony outfit. They love seeing bloggers looking "real". This is me, more often than not, and I am not ashamed. I am not a glamazon 24/7. Not every outfit is planned and styled to perfection. My style changes with my mood. I try things that don't work more often than they do. I am not a slave to trends but I think they are fun to play with and try on. I wear flip flops 95% of the year, rain or shine. I like UGGS. Half of you probably don't get my style or think that it is fashionable. AND that is A-OK.

I have been obsessed with plaid button ups for awhile. I love that in the fall/winter I can wear a thicker version called a flannel. I buy mine in the men's section of Target and they cannot be more comfortable. Paired with my jeggings and flip flops it is the perfect casual, Fall outfit. I have to share a secret with you all. 90% of the time you see pics of me with sunglasses on it is because I am not wearing make up. I don't wear much make up in general but on days off or running errands I definitely don't. So now you know! I bet you fell better now, doncha'? Haha. I think that sunglasses are the number one accessory that makes you look chic and pulled together no matter what you are wearing and make up or not. My sunglasses collection is pretty large and I have some amazing styles. I have been a fanatic since I was in 9th grade. My eye doctor praises me for how little sun damage I have for how light my eye color is. My family and friends make fun of my large glasses but now I have proof that I am not a diva...I am just taking care of my eyes. No damage and no wrinkles. ;)

I think I am only one of millions of girls obsessed with Ryan Gosling.

He is pretty much perfect. He is everywhere and his star is the biggest and the brightest right now. Besides being incredibly good looking, a phenomenal actor and all around good guy he also has impeccable style.

He makes my heart palpitate.

I don't think anyone I know. Mayyyyybbbbbeeee one guy. Maybe.

All I can say is if a guy can dress like this (and pull it off)...I just may marry him. This outfit looks pretty easy for travel. Cotton Henley, slacks and slip on loafers. Wrinkle free, shoes that are easy to take off and put on and sunglasses. The look is effortless, cool and works.

What I Wore: Accessories

I have a slight obsession with accessories.

My stint at Nordies did NOTHING to help that obsession.

I can wear jeans and a tee for the rest of my life if I had unlimited access to accessories. For real.

This past weekend was cold and rainy.

I was supposed to got to AZ but I cancelled and spent the whole weekend in relaxation mode. I sure needed it. After week one of the new diet and exercise regime behind me along with a full work week, I just needed to lay low.

This outfit is from Friday. I worked and it rained.

I bought THIS scarf and knew that I would be wearing it as soon as I read the weather forecast. Lots of jewelry and all black was just what the scarf needed.

I was also excited to bust out my new Aldo boots that I bought in August. I have been OBSESSED with these Chanel Boots since Kourtney started wearing them last year and was so excited to see a knock off. I have never been a huge Aldo shoes shopper but they totally made me a fan. I have the HARDEST time finding boots. I have 17" calves. Most boots have a 14 1/2" circumference. Aldo STRETCHED these boots almost TWO inches so that they would fit me. I almost kissed the sales associate. I am a very happy customer.

After five long days of work...It is finally the weekend.

That makes me happy! I actually have a FULL weekend off and I have HUGE plans.

A Saturday morning workout, a little window shopping, a nap, DVR and lots of Blog Reading.

I plan to relax, relax....OH and relax ;)

I have another outfit post for you all.

It was nice to take some pictures, although I didn't love this outfit as much after seeing it photographed. It was supposed to be in the high 60's but it wasn't. It was a little warm for the weather but still comfy and cute.

I am in love with the colors in the sweater. Pairing it with taupe wedges is a nice way to tone down the sweater but still complement the color. If you can't tell I am LOVE a slightly cropped jean. I have to have my skinnies hit right above my ankle and my bells/wide leg jeans cover my shoes (my tallest shoes) and graze the ground. Nothing in between. If I find a pair that I like I generally buy two pairs. One for heels and the other for flats. You HAVE to find what works best for you and your body.

No Shopping, no shopping, no shopping! WHAM!

Do you all remember the TV show game with the WHAMMY'S??

I feel like I am screaming, "no shopping" and WHAM! I fall in love with something else.

I know that this "shopping budget" is going to be harder than I thought! Haha.

My plan for November is to budget, budget, budget.

I am allotting myself with $50 a pay period to buy Clothes and Shoes!

(I am fully aware that this may be pennies to some and a large budget to others)

I want to stay focused on buying things I need and not always buying whatever I want and giving into my frivolous ways. I do not "need" for much. Being a Fashion lover I definitely talk myself into buying things that are not necessary just because I "want" them. I am growing up and need to save some pennies instead of spending them. My savings account is totally in my closet. Ha! I have some amazing shoes and bags ;)

So that is the plan! I am sticking to it!

The irony of posting the things I want while on a budget is just spectacular!

I am using these posts to really determine HOW I want to spend my money.

I don't know what it is about Zara shoes but I am loving them lately! I am pretty much obsessed with these baby's. I think they need a sister. These glitter heels will do the trick! SUPER hot heels.

I also cannot get this orange dress out of my head. The Clothes Hound is a store in North Carolina that has an incredible social media outreach (HI Mary!!!). They follow me on Twitter and are loyal readers of the blog. They posted the dress on Facebook and I HAVE to HAVE it! I am 99% sure that this is what I will be spending a majority of my allowance on. Fall is FINALLY starting to show it's face here in So Cal. There is a slight crisp in the air. I love sweaters and this one from Old Navy (yes, I LOVE this store. I find the best things) is JUST what I need to update my wardrobe. It is perfect for the chilly nights and I love the cowl neck. Plus the detailing of the knit is pretty.
